Question: What do Adam Duritz and I have in common?
Answer: We both LOVE this song, apparently ...
at least that's what he said on NPR. Let's hope the similarities end there ...
Sometimes our local news is really funny!
ELLETSVILLE, Ind. -- A Monroe County church has done without it for years, but the pastor said it's finally time to install a major upgrade -- indoor plumbing.
God's Way Family Church in Elletsville has lights, air conditioning and even a sound system. But the congregation has been using outhouses since the building was built.
Pastor Gilbert Thornton has launched a fundraising drive to get indoor facilities installed in an effort to draw more people on Sundays.
"It would help the growth of the church. When you say you've got outhouses, it actually turns them off," he said.

Hmmmmm. I think I would prefer to remain Earthbound. It is my favorite planet, after all. What other planets have trees and woodland creatures and other humans and beer and stuff?
Side note: Since reading the QotD, I cannot get this song out of my head. It used to be my favorite tune to listen to while running.
but I wanted to get Michael Jackson off the top of my blog, so ... Hey! Here's a picture of me looking red, white and blue in black and white.
Those are stars and stripes sunglasses with blue lenses (from the Dollar Spot at Target!). They are super cool, but Maria thinks they are hers. Speaking of red and white (but not blue), I've discovered that I can no longer drink red wine, so I guess I'll be guzzling the Pinot Grigio this summer.
And here are the latest decorative gems up for bid at Christy's. Coincidentally, the Indianapolis Children's Museum just opened their King Tut exhibit this week. They are a little too big for our front porch, but might look good flanking our garage.
probably this one:
It's very boogie-worthy and preceded MJ's crotch-grabbing phase. Love it!
I was surprised by how sad I was to learn of Michael Jackson's death yesterday. I never owned a Michael Jackson album and I used to cringe everytime someone would refer to him as the "King of Pop," but my childhood was completely infused with his music. So many memories are attached to a Jackson 5 or Michael Jackson song. E.g., I remember my friend, Gina, and I twirling batons for hours in her driveway and trying to figure out what MJ was saying in this number .
Also, I think some of us were really hoping that he would snap out of it ... you know? Stop acting so creepy and regain some dignity before his demise. I read a comment to someone else's Michael Jackson blurb that said that he died a long time ago and I agree. But now that he's officially dead, I wonder if Michael Jackson will surpass Elvis in reported sightings at truck stops and small-town diners. RIP Michael Jackson.
Just what in the world is going on in this painting? Is that cherub at the bottom grabbing that lady's ankle or trying to pull her drape off? Yes, this little beauty is up for auction this week at Christy's Auction House in Indy. Actually, I love Christy's. Nice furniture can be found there for low, low prices, but man-oh-man they sure do have a lot of crap too!
Share a photograph from the weekend.
I had to pop into my office briefly over the holiday weekend and took Maria along with me. Afterwards, we ran around White River State Park, which was virtually empty since it was race day in Indy. She got hungry, so I bought her a hot dog. It has been a long, long time since I've purchased a hot dog from a street vendor. Hot dog + bottle of water = $5.00.
lol, nice - I have a friend for her who I call The Bridesmaid - she looks like an ice... read more
