One of Us
Tomorrow, Maria and I are going to see these uh, creatures? critters? Whatever, they are, we're going to see them LIVE! at the Murat Theatre.
Back in my single days, I lived downtown and I worked out at the gym across from the Murat. Now and then, Blues Clues or Sesame Street Live would come to town, and I'd stare out the window from the treadmill and watch all of the moms scrambling to unload their little ones and pile into the Murat. Now, as my time approaches to join the caravan of mommies and kiddies packing into the Murat to see people dressed in giant Backyardigans costumes, I keep hearing that chant from the movie "Freaks" (and resurrected by Lyle Lovett in the movie, "The Player"): "One of us, one of us . . . " Not that I'm not looking forward to it. I am. But it's funny to think that this scene was once so foreign to me.
